| About Brad Myers
Brad Myers has been riding horses since he was four years old. His grandfather, legendary horseman and blacksmith, first introduced Brad to horses and helped him realize his natural gift to “speak” their language. Known as a “horse whisperer” long before the phrase became popular, Brad’s grandfather instilled the belief that you need to communicate with horses to have a willing partnership with them.
At the age of 18, Brad continued his training with his uncle, a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) cowboy. At the same time, Brad completed his first two years of college. Then, following a family tradition of military service, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served seven years and received numerous awards and promotions. After the Marines, in 1990, Brad moved to Colorado and took his first job in the corporate world. By 1993, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management at Colorado Christian University. While attending college, he worked full time, including stints on several ranches.
From 1993 to 2002, Brad continued to work with horses on a part-time basis, while maintaining his corporate position. During this period, he started colts and retrained horses, traveling to clients in Michigan, Kentucky, Washington, Wyoming and Colorado.
A Life-Changing Decision
In 2002, Brad traveled to the Ancient pyramid ruins of the Toltec civilization in Mexico as the culmination of a two-year apprenticeship with Master Toltec teacher Ray Dodd. Shortly thereafter, Brad made a life-changing decision. He left the corporate world and embarked on the journey of teacher, trainer and leadership facilitator.
Brad’s passion for excellence in horsemanship and leadership evolved into The Wisdom of the Horse Leadership Development Programs. This exciting series marries his grassroots natural horsemanship style and his military leadership experience, with the spiritual teachings of the Toltec and Native American cultures.
Now living in Conifer, Colorado, Brad is an active Rotarian and a member of the Jefferson County Mounted Search and Rescue, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Colorado Horse Council and America Supports You. He offers his Wisdom of the Horse Leadership Programs in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, but also travels throughout the country providing presentations and workshops for business leaders, community leaders and youth leaders.
A Passion for Giving Back
Most recently, Brad founded Operation Silver Spurs, a unique, non-profit organization designed to enrich the lives of U.S. military veterans and their families through the magical interaction and healing power of horses. Operation Silver Spurs, a 501(c)(3) organization, helps provide veterans with the tools they need to successfully re-enter the civilian world and lead productive lives.
As a veteran (USMC), Brad has taken on Operation Silver Spurs as a personal mission to give back to those who have served our country. Brad stresses, “Freedom has a price. Operation Silver Spurs helps pay back the price for freedom.” Fees from The Wisdom of the Horse Leadership Development Programs help fund the good work of Operation Silver Spurs. Corporations and individuals can also make tax-deductible donations directly to Operation Silver Spurs at www.operationsilverspurs.org.
